BLOXWICH MINER'S FATAL ACCIDENT.
"Accidental death" was the verdict returned at an inquest yesterday (Friday) on the body of a miner named Charles Thomas Eccleston (20), of Marlborough-street, Bloxwich, who was killed at the Holly Bank Colliery on the 14th inst. The deceased was a horse driver and was found dead beneath a tub of dirt. It seemed that as the tub was being let down a "jig," the chain broke, and it ran away, falling on the deceased. If he had been in the proper place provided, however, he would have been safe. The chain had been previously examined, and it was stated by two witnesses that they had never known a chain break before.
