ASSAULT. - Hugh Roberts, Royal Exchange Inn, charged Thomas Lewis, Treherbert, with assaulting him. Mr Phillips defended. From the evidence it appeared that the defendant interfered in some business between another man and complainant's mother, and used abusive language towards her. Complainant told him not to speak so, when defendant knocked him down and knelt on his chest. Complainant knocked him on the eye then. Failing to get up he called the servant. Some of the witnesses admitted that both defendant and complainant were drunk. The case was dismissed.
