Graves moved for new road
Siting a new road in Pontypridd will cause upheaval at a town cemetery, where 186 bodies are to be exhumed.
The Capel Sardis cemetery is to be cleared for the new Inner Relief Road, so it is necessary to remove human remains currently interred in the graveyard.
The vestry is to be demolished to clear space for the new road, with some graves moved to accomodate this.
A new vestry will then be built to the rear of the chapel.
Now Pontypridd solicitors Morgan Bruce, acting for the trustees of Capel Sardis, have placed advertisments outlining which plots are to be exhumed.
It is planned to cremate what remains are left, before burying the ashes on a memorial in the new vestry.
But heirs, executors, administrators and relatives will have two months to contact Morgan Bruce, to have their deceased's remains disposed of separately if they so wish.
A full list of all identified remains will be published in the Observer next week.
