Preece Family Tree

Some years ago an old man named Philip Marshall, a shoemaker, lived by himself at Wednesfield. Being unable to look after himself he was taken to the workhouse, but did not live long. After his death his belongings and some property passed to John Corbett, a lock-maker, of Hickman-street, Wednesfield. The furniture was placed at the rear of Corbett's premises, and the other day when cutting open a bed for the purpose of removing the feathers no fewer than 136 sovereigns were found. How the money got there is somewhat of a mystery. It is thought that Marshall's mother saved the coins and placed them in the bed.
