PETTY SESSIONS, MONDAY. - Before T. B. Crosse, E. E. Silvester, J. Rigby, W. H. Talbot, W. Bretherton, Esqs., and the Rev. T. Lund. - John Laird and Timothy Kennedy were summoned for fighting at Withnell. Laird pleaded guilty, and Kennedy said he was fighting in his own defence. Police-constable Sanderson saw them fighting together and separated them. - Kennedy said Laird, whom he did not know came to the next door and began to kick at a late hour, when he got up and told him to desist. Laird then tried to force himself into his house, and he put him out, when he commenced to kick him, so he returned the compliment when the policeman came up. - The charge against Kennedy was dismissed, and Laird was bound over on his own recognizances.
