STEALING FOWLS AT TREHERBERT. - Mr. T. Davies, Royal Exchange, Treherbert, charged Elizabeth Matthews, Anne Matthews, and Elizabeth Matthews, with stealing fowls from his yard. It seems that this offence is becoming very common in the Valley. In many instances families have lost all their poultry in one night. Great amusement was heard in court while the case was going on. The prisoners admitted that they went "share and share alike" in the eating, but not in plucking. The feathers and heads of the fowl were produced, and recognised by the complainant as his. Sergeant Oliver stated that he apprehended the prisoners, and while in custody they confessed their guilt. The girls were sent to Cardiff gaol for seven days.
