        MEN WHO ARE TALKED ABOUT.

        ONE OF LLWYNYW'S CENTRES.

Mr Isaac Edwards - or "Ike," as he is familiarly known throughout the Rhondda - is one of Llwynypia's centres, and in that capacity he has done excellent service for his club. He played throughout the "glorious" season, as the last is likely to be known locally for a long time owing to the fact that the team ran out League winners, and was also the only first-class Welsh team which proved "invincible." Mr Edmunds first saw light in Pontnewydd in the year 1874, and he is therefore 23 years of age. His alma mater in matters football was the junior team connected with Croesyceiliog - what a jaw-breaker for anybody who is not conversant with the Welsh alphabet! - Schools, and he was one of the first players of the Llwynypia team. He threw in his lot with the club upon its formation, and has ever since done yeoman service in its behalf. He has played in all positions on the field, but he is best known and most able as a centre. Possessed of fair sprinting powers, been well trained in passing - as was so strikingly exemplified by the short, sharp displayes of the quartette last season - and a good tackler to boot, Ike is a man that needs careful watching, for he has a way of making openings for his wing that has resulted disastrously for many opposing teams. Last year he played in the Mid v. West match at Penygraid, and also for the Glamorgan League against Cardiff. Like other members of the Llwynypia team, "Ike" has been approached by several emissaries from clubs in the Northern Union, but notwithstanding offers which would tempt many men - such as, for instance, a lump sum of £50 down and a guaranteed salary of £3 a week - he has remained faithful to his club and withstood the allurements of the tempters from the Broughton Rangers, Salford, and Walkden Clubs. Quiet and unassuming and possessing a genial disposition, Mr Edmunds is well liked by all who know him. He is in the employ of the Glamorgan Coal Company, and is recognised as a skilful pattern maker. He stands 5 feet 7 inches, and weighs 11 1/2 stone, and is very muscular. Ike has a capital tenor voice, and can render a song in a finished style.
