A farmer's wife - Mrs Foss, of Ashwell, Diptford - sustained a serious loss on Saturday. She left her stall to go to a butcher's, and while away found she had lost her purse which contained £6 in gold, a quantity of silver, and a cheque for £10.

A serious loss was experienced by Mrs. P. R. Foss of Ashwell, Diptford, a farmer's wife, who regularly attends the Totnes Market. She left her stall to go to a butcher's in the Market, and there discovered that her handbag had disappeared. This contained a cheque for £10 drawn on Holt's Bank in favour of E. E. Langdon, £6 in gold, and a quantity of silver.
