At Totnes County Court on Tuesday, Mr. Isaac Foot made an application respecting the amount paid under the Workmen's Compensation Act in the case of Alfred Shute, of Ugborough. He said the deceased left twelve children, seven of whom were under 21, but only four of them were dependent in any degree upon him. He suggested that £64 18s 9d should be allowed to the widow; £10 to Frederick, aged 16; £15 to Lily, aged 16; £20 to Reginald, aged 12; and £45 to Ethel, aged 11, who was nearly blind, and he asked that 24s a month should be paid to the widow, 8s each to Frederick and Lily, 12s to Reginald, and 16s a month to Ethel. His Honour Judge Lush Wilson granted the order accordingly.
