        THE LATE MR. RONALD DEACON.

        Funeral at St. Chad's, Lichfield.

        The funeral of Mr. Joseph Ronald Deacon, the only son of Councillor and Mrs. J. R. Deacon, of St. Chad's Road, Lichfield, whose sudden death from a chill at the age of 27 years was reported in our columns last week, took place at St. Chad's Church on Friday afternoon.

        The service was conducted by the Rector (the Rev. C. P. Way) and the church was crowded, a very considerable body of workmen employed by Mr. Deacon attending, both from Lichfield and the various districts, to pay their last respects to his son.

        The mourners included Councillor J. R. Deacon (father), Mrs. Ronald Deacon (widow), Mrs. Deacon (grandmother), Mr. T. K. Startin and Mrs. Startin (uncle and aunt), Mrs. Parker (aunt), Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Deacon (cousins), and Mr. F. E. Boardman (Walsall). Amongst those present were the Rev. H. S. Cresswell (vicar of St. Mary's (Lichfield), Councillor F. Garratt, Mr. A. L. Garratt (Sheriff of Lichfield), Alderman T. Andrews, Mr. T. Oswald Moseley, Mr. H. H. Brown, Mr. G. S. Russell, Mr. R. J. Barnes, Mr. J. S. Brown, Councillor and Mrs. W. H. Bowering, Councillor W. B. Littler, Councillor E. Hammond, Mr. and Mrs. Skeffington, Mr. F. Foster (Whittington), Mrs. Cartmale, Mr. Harley (Birmingham), Mr. A. R. Myring, Mr. W. Griffin, Mr. W. H. Mason (Burton), Mr. T. W. Biddulph (Burton), Mr. Bushell (Birmingham), Mr. C. C.         The bearers were four of the oldest employees.

        The service was of a simple nature, consisting of the hymn "Peace, perfect peace," Psalm 90, the lesson, and finally the hymn "On the Resurrection morning."

        The body was afterwards interred at St. Chad's Churchyard.

        The funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs. F. M. and J. Wait, of Bird Street, Lichfield.

        Mr. and Mr.s J. R. Deacon and Family wish to thank the many kind friends for the exceedingly kind letters of sympathy in their sad bereavement; also for beautiful floral tributes.

        LICHFIELD FUNERAL.

        The funeral took place at Lichfield, yesterday, of Mr. Joseph Ronald Deacon, only son of Councillor and Mrs. J. R. Deacon, of Lichfield, and a member of the firm of Messrs. J. R. Deacon and Son, builders and contractors, of Lichfield and Walsall, whose sudden death at the age of 27, occurred at Streetly, the previous Tuesday. A crowded congregation included all the firm's employees, and members of Lichfield City Council.
