        MRS. ELIZABETH GRIFFITHS, CWMAMAN.

        One by one the older generation of residents are gradually passing away. On this occasion it is with regret that we record the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Griffiths (76), Florida Villa, Llanwonno Road, which occurred on February 6th. A native of Tregaron she had lived in the village for 50 years. She was a member of one of the oldest families, and where known in the district as the Tregarons. Two of them, the late Mr. Richard (Dick Tregaron) and Mr. Jeremiah George (Jerry Tregaron), the head surface timekeeper and storesman at the Cwmaman Collieries, were well known.

        Her husband, Mr. Steadman Griffiths, was fatally injured at the Shepherd's Pit 26 years ago. There are three daughters, Mrs. Jane Carter, Park View; Mrs. Mary Morgan, wife of Mr. James Morgan (Hodges and Sons) and Mrs. Elizabeth Stonelake, wife of Mr. Herbert Stonelake (U.D.C. staff), and four sons, Messrs. J. Griffiths (P.D.), R. S. Griffiths, M. G. Griffiths, and Edgar Griffiths.

        The interment was at Aberdare Cemetery on February 10th, the vicar officiating.

        Mouring were: The four sons named above, Messrs. John Morgan, John Lewis, Geo Bird, Walter Thomas, Harry Davies, Jeremiah Evans, W.F. Carter, Herbert Stonelake, James Morgan, David Lewis, John Maddern, Owen Owen, Edmund Stonelake, J.P.

        At the house were the three daughters; Miss Betty Carter, Miss Cynthia Morgan, Master Gwyn Griffiths, Miss Shirley Stonelake, grand-children; Mesdames Bessie Bird, Cissie Davies, Mary J. Thomas, Mary E. Evans, Winnie Dalton, Miss Rachel M. Evans, Miss M. Dalton, Miss Doris Jenkins, cousins.

        Relatives and friends acted as bearers.
