        MILITARY FUNERAL AT WEDNESFIELD. - Yesterday (Friday) afternoon the funeral took place at Wednesfield Cemetery, with military honours, of Corp. Arthur Lane, late of the Wolverhampton Troop of the Queen's Own (Staffordshire) Regiment of Yeomanry Cavalry, who died on Tuesday from the effects of rheumatic fever. THere was a large muster of members of the Wolverhampton, Himley, Stafford, Burton, Walsall, and Newcastle troops, together with the band of the regiment under the conductorship of Mr. Gladman, and Lieuts. H. Staveley-Hill and C. T. Mander were in command of the detachment. Ex-Sergt.-Majors Sadler (Wolverhampton) and Stradford (Himley) and ex-Qmr. Brevitt (Wolverhampton) were also present. The deceased, who was only 30 years of age, was one of the smartest yeomen in his regiment, and a frequent prize-winner at yeomanry competitions. He was very popular among all classes, and especially in his regiment. The funeral procession included, in addition to the Yeomanry, the choir of Wednesfield Church, of which Mr. Lane was a member, his workmen, and representatives of the local authorities. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. Birch, vicar of Wednesfield, and the firing-party was under the charge of Sergt. Vallance. The procession from the deceased's late home at Wednesfield was accompanied by several hundred people, and blinds were drawn at all the houses en route to the cemetery. A very large number of wreaths and other floral tributes were sent by numerous friends.
