        Mr. John Preece, Treforest.

        The funeral of the late Mr. John Preece, of 61, Wood Road, Treforest, whose death was reported in our last issue, took place for Glyntaff Cemetery on Thursday of last week. The Rev. E. Lewis, Calvary, officiated at the house and the graveside. Deceased had served throughout the Great War and for the major portion of that period he had been in Palestine. He was of a quiet and humorous disposition and had been in ill-health for some time. He had been an official for some time at the Penrhiw Lodge of the S.W.M.F. Widespread sympathy is expressed with the bereaved family. The mourners were: Messrs. Gwilym Preece (son), Bert Preece (nephew), William John, Thomas John, Maldwyn Lewis, Herbert Hoskins (cousins), James Herbert, Arthur Humphreys, Harry Field, Arthur Jno. Parry, William Parry, Robert Dare, Mathias Parry, George Lloyd (brothers-in-law), Wm. H. Parry, Rhydyfelin; Haydn Dare, David Herbert, George Lloyd, junr., Tom Lloyd junr., Evan Rees (cousins), Leonard Jones, John Weaver (sons-in-law).         RHYDYFELIN AND HAWTHORN

        THE DEATH occurred on May 8 of Mr Gwilym Ewart Preece, 62 Oak Street, Rhydyfelin. Mr Preece was 45 years of age and a native of Treforest. He had been a civilian employed by the R.A.F. for the past four years. He was a member of the Old Comrades' Association, British Legion and the 5th Welch. He was also secretary of the Treforest Darts Team. He was the eldest son of Mrs Sarah Ann Preece and the late Mr John Preece, 61 Wood Road, Pontypridd. Interment was made at Glyntaff on May 10, the Rev. F. Scott, minister of Calvary English Baptist Church, officiating. He is survived by a widow and eight daughters. The mourners were: Messrs Jack Preece, brother; Len Jones, Arthur James, Albert Martin, Billy Hallett, Jack Weal, Charles Bines, brothers-in-law; Roy Elleston and Roy Marsh, sons-in-law; Parry Jones, William Field, Mervyn Weaver, Vivian Davies, nephews; David Shoemark, Bert Preece, David Herbert, Jacky Weal, cousins; William Parry, Arthur Humphries, Thias Parry, uncles; Leonard Thomas (senior), Len Thomas (junior), R. Elleston, friends. Many friends met at the cemetery. The bearers were representatives of the British Legion.         The death took place on Monday evening last, following a long illness borne with fortitude of Mr. John Preece, husband of Mrs. Sarah Ann Preece, 61, Wood Road, Treforest. Mr. Preece was a native of Pontypridd and was extremely well known and highly respected. He was for many years the secretary of the Penrhiw Lodge of the S.W.M.F. He was an ex-serviceman and had served with the 5th. Welch in Palestine. Much sympathy is felt for the bereaved widow and six children in their sad loss. The funeral took place on Friday at Glyntaff Cemetery.
