        STEALING A BATHER'S BOOT - John Moss, 13, a school boy with only one leg, of 8, Wish-court, was charged with stealing one boot, one stocking and garter, value 2s, the property of Richard Rodmore, of 93, Lake-road, from James Rodmore. The boy missed the property while bathing off Southsea beach on Saturday, and gave information to his mother. Sergeant Moss afterwards went in search of prisoner, and on apprehending him found him wearing the boot, and carrying the stocking and garter in his pocket. Prisoner then said that he picked the boot up on the beach, but now pleaded guilty to the charge. - He received a bad character from his mother, and was sentenced to receive twelve strokes with a birch rod.
