[WHITSUNTIDE WEDDINGS IN TOWN AND COUNTY]
[CUPID DEFIES THE WAR]The war and the cancellation of the Whitsun holiday did not lessen the number of wedding ceremonies in Cheltenham and district over the week-end.
DIMOND-HODGSON
The wedding took place at Christ Church, Cheltenham, on Saturday, of Mr. Richard Dimond, the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Dimond, of Roland, Alstone-lane, and Miss Aileen Joan Hodgson, then daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Hodgson, of 138 Gloucester-road, Cheltenham.
The bride was for some time a teacher in Christ Church Sunday School, and the bridegroom sung in the choir.
The service which was choral, was conducted by the Rev. Charles T. Peers, the choir singing the hymns "Lead us, Heavenly Father," and "The King of Love."
The best man was Mr. Cyril Bramley, the bride being given away by her father.
A close-fitting dress of satin, with halo and veil, was worn by the bride, who carried a bouquet of white carnations. The bridesmaids, Miss Una Thompson, a cousin of the bride, and Miss Dorothy Burridge, wore blue taffeta dresses with cyclamen-coloured lace sleeves, with lace filling in the square neckline, and head-dresses of anemones.
They also carried bouquets of anemones.
A reception was held by the bride's parents at the Cadena Corner House, Promenade.
The bride left for the honeymoon, which will be spent at Weston-super-Mare, wearing a floral dress with navy blue edge to edge coat, navy blue hat and accessories.
