        LATE MR. P. SLADER

Burial of a Well-Known Citizen at Exeter

Amid manifestations of regret, the funeral of Mr. Peter Slader, of Heasley House, Archibald-road, the Barnfield, Exeter, took place at Exeter yesterday. Deceased was head of the business of P. Slader and Son, fruit merchants of Southernhay, but retired from active business a short time ago and accepted a seat on the Board of Guardians. At the municipal election on Thursday last he was successful in winning a seat on the Council by 44 votes. Mr. Slader was a prominent Wesleyan, and the first portion of the funeral service took part in Southernhay Wesleyan Church, the interment being at the Higher Cemetery.

The hymns sung were "Happy the soul to Jesus joined," and "How bright these glorious spirits shine." As the funeral procession left the church, "O rest in the Lord" was impressively rendered.
