        [REMANDS]

Robert Southard, a seaman, was charged with deserting from her Majesty's ship Black Prince at Portsmouth within the last three months.

Supt. Day said the prisoner came to the station on Friday night and said he deserted from the Black Prince at Portsmouth about two months ago, and that the ship was ordered to sail the day after he deserted. He wished a remand to be granted, in order that he might communicate with the proper authorities. He could not see the prisoner's name in the Police Gazette.

        Remanded for a week.
