MRS. HOWARD PASSES AWAY
Last night at the Empire home Mrs. Matthew Howard, one of Nevada's real pioneer women passed away surrounded by sons and daughters. Mrs. Howard, who was 82 years of age last January, spent most of her life in the west and in Nevada.
The deceased was born in Devonshire, England, moving to California in 1852. She with her husband resided in El Dorado County until 1875 when the family moved to Empire, where she has lived since that time.
During this long and useful life Mrs. Howard built up a circle of fast friends who will regret to learn of her death. A family of men and women survive her. Three daughters, Mrs. C. C. Small, Mrs. J. C. Smith, and Mrs. Elizabeth Pittman, of Nova Scotia. Three sons also mourn her death, R. E., George and Frank Howard.
The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon from the school house at Empire at 2:30. This chronicles the passing of another of the pioneers who made Nevada possible.
