INTERMENT - On Friday, the 21st inst., the remains of Mrs. Mary Thomas, Rose Villa, were interred at the Aberdare Public Cemetery. Deceased, who was 61 years of age, passed away at her sister's residence in Talgarth. She was a faithful member of Soar Church, Cwmaman. The, Rev. W. D. Morris officiated at the funeral.

Two beautiful wreaths had been received, one from the children and the other from the "Merched y De" Society [women's temperance movement], of which deceased was a member. The funeral arrangements were in the hands of Mr. F. D. E. George, Aberdare.

Cwmaman Military Funeral.
AN IMPRESSIVE SPECTACLE.
Impressive scenes marked the interment on Thursday last at the Aberdare Public Cemetery of Sergeant Morgan Thomas, Cwmaman (C Company, 2nd Welsh), whose death we reported in our last issue. Throngs of spectators lined the whole length of the route from Cwmaman to the Cemetery. The coffin, draped with the Union Jack and covered with wreaths, was borne on the shoulders of soldiers all the way. The Cwmaman Institute Silver Band, conducted by Mr R. S. Howells, played the "Dead March" from "Saul" en route. The procession was as follows:- General Public; Cwmaman and Godreaman Lodges, R.A.O..B; Boy Scouts and Church Lads Brigade; Cwmaman, Aberaman, Aberdare, and Trecynon Ambulance Brigades; the Firing Party; Cwmaman Institute Silver Band and Committee; the body, with cap, belt, and bayonet; soldiers, representing various regiments. The marshals were Police-Sergeant Lane, Cwmaman, and Messrs. W. T. Wood, F. Major, and John Howells, Mount Pleasant Lodge, R.A.O.B. At the graveside touching addresses were delivered by the Revs. W. D. Morris, Soar, and J. Lewis, Hebron. The Rev. I. J. Williams, Vicar, officiated at the house. The R.A.O.B. ceremony was conducted by the Mount Pleasant Lodge Chaplain, Mr. W. D. Humphries. Three volleys were fired over the grave, and the "Last Post" was sounded by the buglers. The mourners were: Messrs. TOLL OF THE WAR.
CWMAMAN HERO DEAD.
We regret to announce the death, which occurred on Saturday last at the Royal Infirmary, Sunderland, of Sergeant Morgan Thomas (No. 5775), 12 Aman Street, of the 2nd Welsh Regiment (C. Company), now at the front. Sergeant Thomas, who was a Reservist, was drafted to the front on August 5th, and went through the battle of Moins unscathed. At the battle of Ypres on November 17th he was wounded in the head by a bullet which penetrated the right cheek and came out through the left eye. He was sent to the Duchess of Westminster's Hospital at La Tonquet, Paris, where he remained unlil the beginning of this year. He was then transferred to England, and taken to the Royal Infirmary, Sunderland, where he succumbed to his wounds. The deceased hero, who was 39 years of age on Friday last, was highly popular in the locality, and possessed a host of friends. The body was brought home on Sunday last. The funeral (military) takes place on Thursday (to-day). He leaves a sorrowing widow and six little children, the eldest of whom is only 11 years of age.

Petty Officer Marries Nurse.
Griffiths - Griffiths.
A very pretty wedding took place at Bodringallt Chapel on Saturday morning last, Rev. O. Morley Lewis performing the ceremony. Mr. Noel Thomas was the organist. The bridegroom was Petty Officer Kenneth Steadman Griffiths, younger son of the late Mrs. Griffiths and Mr. John Steadman Griffiths, ex-teacher, 23, Sherwood Place. The bride was Miss Gwyneth Griffiths, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Griffiths (smith), 28, Sherwood Place, Llwynypia. The bride was given away by her father. She was charmingly dressed in a two-piece of dusty pink, hat and shoes to tone and carried a bouquet of sweet peas and maidenhair fern. She was attended by Miss Della Millward, cousin, who wore a navy blue dress, hat and shoes to match and carried a bouquet of sweet peas. The duties of best man were discharged by Mr. Ronald Steadman Griffiths, brother of bridegroom. Two brothers of the bride in the Services failed to attend. After the ceremony a grand reception was held at the home of the bride's parents and many attended. Numerous presents were given the happy young pair. Both young people belong to families highly respected in our district. Ken was a chemist at Eastbourne while the bride was in the nursing profession. A brief honeymoon and both return to duty. Mr. Gwilym S. Griffiths, 15 Park-terr., Clydach Vale, passed away on Saturday morning, the 30th ult., at the age of 38 years, after a long and painful illness of over two years' duration. Deceased, who was the third son of Mr. John Griffiths, hairdresser, Llwynypia-road, Llwynypia, and of Mrs. Griffiths, 48 Sherwood, Llwynypia, had been residing in Clydach Fale for the past 14 years. He leaves a widow and six children, whose ages range from 14 to 4, to mourn his loss.
The funeral took place at Llethrddu Cemetery, on Thursday, the 5th inst., Mr Timothy Williams, newsagent, Llwynypia, officiating.
